Municipal Committee
The Municipal Committee is the collective body that, since 1 January 2024, exercises the competencies previously divided among the Economic Committee, the Quality of Life Committee and the Executive Committee of the Municipality.
The consolidation was introduced by Article 9 of Law 5056/2023 (new Article 74Α §1 of Law 3852/2010), as detailed in Ministry of Interior Circular 1237/94548 of 6 November 2023.
Composition
The President is Mayor Eugenia A. Frangia (Council Decision 2/2024).
Mr. Evangelos Kontaxakis was elected Vice-President (Committee Decision 1/2024) for the term until 30 June 2026.

Competencies
Budget and financial management
Drafts and proposes the budget, monitors its execution, submits quarterly reports to the Municipal Council, and approves the final account. Decides on financial leases, negotiates loan terms and assesses the need for borrowing.
Tenders, contests and procurement
Sets the terms and announcements, runs and awards all forms of contests and tenders for works, studies, supplies and services. Acts as the contracting authority in the pre-award stage under Law 4412/2016.
Legal representation and litigation
Decides on appeals to administrative authorities, on the pursuit or waiver of legal remedies, and on settlements or discontinuance of proceedings for amounts up to €60,000 plus VAT. For higher amounts, refers the matter to the Municipal Council.
Urban planning and quality of life
Competencies transferred from the Quality of Life Committee: proposes to the Municipal Council on land-use planning, urban-plan implementation, regeneration projects, cemetery siting and environmental protection. Decides on shop operating licences and on extensions to music permits.
Executive competencies and personnel
Competencies transferred from the Executive Committee: coordinates the preparation of the budget and the annual programme of action, proposes the Internal Service Organisation and the Performance Evaluation Regulation. Approves recruitment requests and contract amendments.
Acceptance of funding and donations
Decides on the acceptance of inheritances, legacies and donations to the Municipality, as well as on all forms of funding, subsidies and inclusion of municipal projects in development programmes.
