Cultural event
Tweed Run
The **Tweed Run** combines a celebratory bike ride across Spetses with a period dress code, in a **three-day cultural event** drawing participants from across Greece.
The institution
An established cultural event on the island's autumn calendar:
- Established annual event since 2014.
- Three-day programme, typically each autumn.
- The only official Tweed Run event in Greece.
The history
From London 2009 to Spetses 2014:
- The Tweed Run began in London in 2009.
- It arrived in Spetses in 2014, marking the 100th anniversary of the Poseidonion Grand Hotel.
- Since then it has become a fixture in the island's autumn calendar.
The programme
Four central elements make up the three-day programme:
- Cycling route starting from Poseidonion square.
- Picnic at a selected location in the island's countryside.
- Beauty pageant with awards in categories including best men's and women's attire, best group outfit, and a children's category.
- Concours d'Elegance, a bicycle elegance contest.
The style
A close dress code defines the character of the event:
- Dress code featuring tweed garments and period accessories (caps, bow ties, Oxford shoes).
- Vintage bicycles in multiple categories: classic, city, racing, and decorated.
- The aim is to recreate the atmosphere of the early 20th century.
Organization
The event is organized through cooperation between multiple bodies:
- Organized by the Poseidonion Grand Hotel.
- In collaboration with the Hellenic Bicycle Museum.
- Under the auspices of the Municipality of Spetses and the Spetses Trade Association.
Information
Information, dates and registrations are available on the official website of the Poseidonion Grand Hotel.
