Held every **May** in Spetses as a **three-day event** with five different race categories spanning triathlon, swimming, cycling, and running.
The institution
Spetsathlon is established as a leading event in the Greek sporting calendar:
- Established annual three-day event held every May.
- Top athletes from Greece and abroad take part.
- One of the largest events in the Greek sporting calendar.
The races
Five different race categories across the three-day programme:
- Spetses Triathlon Sprint — 750m swim, 25km bike, 5km run.
- Spetses Triathlon Endurance — 1,500m swim, 50km bike, 10km run.
- Open-water swimming races, 1,000m and 3,000m.
- 25km cycling race around the island.
- 5km road run.
Participation
The event is open to a broad range of participants:
- Open to both amateur and professional athletes.
- Relay teams permitted in the triathlon races.
- Participation from age 12 in the 1,000m swimming race.
- Participation medals for all and awards by age category.
Routes
All race legs make use of the island's unique geography:
- All races start and finish at Poseidonion square.
- Swimming leg in the sea off the Dapia waterfront.
- Cycling leg on the 25km coastal road that circles the island.
- Running legs along the island's central streets.
Organization
The event is organized through cooperation between multiple bodies:
- Co-organized by the Spetsathlon Committee and the Hellenic Triathlon Federation.
- Under the auspices of the Municipality of Spetses.
- Judges certified by the European Triathlon Federation.

Race Categories
Triathlon
Two triathlon distances — Sprint (750m swim, 25km bike, 5km run) and Endurance (1,500m swim, 50km bike, 10km run), with relay-team participation permitted.
Swimming
Open-water swimming races at the 1,000m (open from age 12) and 3,000m distances, held in the sea off the Dapia waterfront.
Cycling and Running
A 25km cycling race along the island's coastal road and a 5km road run on the central streets, both starting and finishing at Poseidonion square.
